Cameraman for a live stream.

I helped set up and operate a camera for a livestream hosted at the University of Cumbria.

The symposium was held in one of the lecture rooms, it consisted of people speaking about their experiences and interpretations of rocks relating to time. It was all livestreamed to Youtube, the link to the livestream still hasn't been released to us yet though unfortunately.

This was my view for the day on the Thursday, I simply had to track the speaker and keep them in a good position in the frame. Resizing with the zoom for height differences, this job was pretty simple, the only hard part was the positioning of myself as the gap I had to get into was tiny and very restrictive.

Behind the last row of seats and the wall is the gap I had to contort myself into, and I was there from 10am until 4pm, thankfully there was some breaks. This was the only negative of the experience. During set up, I organised the wires from another camera at the front right of the room (this is blocked by 'my' cameras microphone in the above photo) to come up behind the speakers and along the left side of the lecture room and into the hole for Stevie who was in charge of the desk.

The set up was complete the day before the seminar, and a lot of checks and tests were done to

ensure it ran smoothly technically.

This is a couple of shots from in side the control room. The cables went into the box shown above which controlled which camera was aired through OBS on the monitor to the right.

Here is a picture of one of the talks as it happened. The day went fine, I found it fun to be a camera operator, the set up was interesting. I would like to explore being a camera operator a bit more in the future through University, as I am quite technically minded, hands on stuff I always find interesting.
